Verizon was proud to host a collaborative event for LBGTQ+ business owners to close out Pride Month 2022. From cyber security threats to building efficiency in an age of digital innovation, this panel of experts discussed how to help businesses not only recover—but thrive in the ever-changing economic environment.

Community Partnership Chat: Rhode Island Foundation

In this episode of our Community Partnership Chat, Verizon’s Adriana Dawson sits down with Angela Bannerman Ankoma, Vice President and Executive Director of the Equity Leadership Initiative (ELI) at the Rhode Island Foundation. The Rhode Island Foundation is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the country, and is the only community foundation serving the state of Rhode Island.  In her role as Executive Director of ELI, Angela leads the Foundation’s efforts focused on diversity, equity, access, and inclusion; with a first-focus on racial equity.

In this episode of Community Partner Chat, James Monteiro, Founder and Director of Reentry Campus Program shares his personal journey of educational freedom while behind the walls and how that experience led him on a personal mission to assist other currently and formerly incarcerated individuals with an affordable pathway to accredited post secondary education and certificate programs to support their successful reentry and pathway to economic self sufficiency.

This Community Partnership Chat between Adriana Dawson, Director of Community Engagement, Verizon and Deborah Perry, President/CEO, YWCA Rhode Island will offer highlights of its impressive 154-year history.  The YWCA Rhode Island members have been unsung trailblazers in the forefront of most major movements in Rhode Island – from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity, from violence prevention to health care reform. The YWCA has also supported members of the military and military families for nearly a century, beginning in World War I when the YWCA and other women’s groups lobbied for a female military corp.
