VIP Series: KID Museum

Verizon is proud to debut our brand new series highlighting the important work of our Digital Equity Community Partners–working to equip the next generation of workers with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age. Today, we feature the KID Museum, based in Bethesda Maryland. The KID Museum empowers all DC Metro Area youth by teaching them the skills needed to invent the future by delivering engaging hands-on experiences at their state-of-the-art makerspace. During Verizon Family Day, over 600 students and families attended the museum for free learning through hands-on projects.

At the event, two Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) coaches demonstrated the technology used year round in their VILS and Verizon Innovative Learning labs. Six V-Teamers served as volunteer Workshop Mentors helping student “makers” design and build robots by reimaging discarded objects into basic circuits and switches.

Additionally, at Verizon Family Day, families were provided information on the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which assists eligible households in paying for internet services, ultimately supporting community members who need to connect to jobs, healthcare, and virtual classrooms. Verizon and KID Museum are committed to equity, access, and education for families across Montgomery County and the DC Metro Area. Watch the video to learn more!
