Providence Journal: College Tours In R.I. Are Now Virtual

The college tour is as quintessential as the blossoming of the Hudson pears, but universities are radically shifting gears to capture new students in the era of shuttered dorms and empty science labs.

The University of Rhode Island reports a record number of applicants this spring, a total of 23,700, a 5 percent increase over last year.

To hold onto those eager applicants, URI, along with several other local colleges, are pivoting to all things digital.
