Two years ago, Stacey Patterson and some other University of Tennessee leaders had dinner on Market Square with Brad Feld, one of the founders of worldwide startup network Techstars.  Until that visit, said Patterson, the vice president for research, outreach and economic development at the University of Tennessee, Feld had no idea that Knoxville and Oak Ridge, two homes of innovation in East Tennessee, were neighbors.
