One of the most rewarding aspects of our community engagement work is the opportunity to partner with many non-profit organizations and support innovative programs that help advance the diverse communities we serve. We launched our Verizon Community Partnerships Initiative to celebrate Verizon-supported community organizations and highlight their important work.

Today, we feature our conversation with Akil Vohra, Executive Director of Asian American LEAD (AALEAD), in Washington, DC. AALEAD is a recognized leader in education. Its programs help Asian American students build a strong academic foundation to enhance learning and prepare to pursue higher education.

Prince George’s Public Schools Join Digital Promise & Verizon Innovative Learning

On Wednesday, May 5, Digital Promise and Verizon welcomed Prince George’s County Public Schools into the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program (VILS). Verizon’s education initiative provides free technology, access and professional development that enables students to develop the skills, knowledge, and capabilities needed to thrive in today’s digital world. Two schools from the district will join the VILS program this year: Nicholas Orem Middle School and Samuel P. Massie Academy.
