A conversation with Verizon’s incoming CTO
Verizon this week announced that Santiago “Yago” Tenorio will be the company’s new CTO and SVP of strategy and technology enablement, reporting to Verizon’s chief networking executive Joe Russo. The announcement confirms a report from TelecomTV last week that Tenorio was leaving Vodafone for Verizon. Tenorio has worked at UK-based Vodafone for almost 30 years, most recently as the operator’s network architecture director. Verizon’s previous CTO was Ed Chan, who left Verizon in January for a position at cell tower operator Crown Castle. Light Reading interviewed Tenorio just minutes after Verizon issued its press release announcing Tenorio would start his new job with Verizon later this month. Indeed, he spoke from a noisy airport on his way to a farewell dinner with his Vodafone colleagues. Tenorio said he plans to move to the US to work at Verizon’s headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
